The North Shore Senior Center (NSSC) hosted a four-week series on Islam that culminated with a visit to the Northbrook Islamic Culture Center. I consider this series a great success because of the information that was shared and the goodwill shown in the exchange at the Culture Center. Presented by Higher Grounds Publishing, Inc., senior center members learned about the basic tenets of Islam, the important role of the prophet Abraham, and the contributions of Islamic civilization to the world. The visit to the Culture Center continued to raise awareness of Islamic practices and I believe, was instrumental in promoting acceptance and understanding.
